Backup as a Service (BaaS)
Secure cloud storage for your backups
What is backup as a service (BaaS)?
Backup as a service (BaaS) allows customers to back up company files, folders and entire data repositories to one of our secure global data centres.
Backup as a service is simpler to manage than other offsite services. Instead of worrying about rotating and managing tapes or hard disks at an offsite location, data storage administrators can offload the maintenance and management of their backups to Hyve.
Users are able to protect their company’s data and information by reducing the risk of data loss from human error, hacking or cyber attacks.
Hyve’s BaaS solution offers an easy and cost-effective cloud solution for your offsite backup and archiving requirements, rather than using the traditional tape option.
BaaS helps businesses to:
Our Extra Mile Support provides you with dedicated Technical Support Engineers who will be assigned to your account. They will be familiar with you and your business needs saving time and money.
We select our data centres for connectivity, reliability, security and performance. We use only the best Tier 3+ facilities around the globe.
In independent testing, our cloud platform outperforms AWS, Rackspace and Google. See the results here. This will improve your search results and customer satisfaction.
Customer’s data is replicated from their primary data centre or office environment and stored securely in Hyve’s secure data centre. The frequency of the data that is replicated can be tailored to meet the customer’s Recovery Point Objectives (RPO).
In the event of a customer losing their data in their primary location or needing to recover their data, the customer would request the backup copy of the data.
A company’s data is integral to its business operations and for employees to function within their jobs. BaaS provides businesses with peace of mind that their data is being held in a secure location, rather than on-premise in the office environment.
Companies who are serious about backups employ the 3-2-1-1-0 rule:
3 – Data is kept in three repositories including a local copy on the VM, a copy on the backup SAN and another copy stored on Hyve’s SAN. Having multiple copies of data ensures the best availability, as well as ensuring that the backup is kept secure.
2 – Data is held in two locations, the client’s infrastructure and Hyve’s infrastructure. Hyve’s infrastructure is HA with a ‘no single point of failure’ platform design, which means that data is always available.
1 – Hyve manages the entire process to ensure that backups are validated and working. Hyve’s support team manually logs in and checks that the backups are working efficiently, as well as using computer systems to check.
1- Data is securely archived using Veeam, which is installed on in-house or alternatively hosted infrastructures. Backups can be run as often as the client needs to suit their business’s requirements.
0 – Rest assured that company data is kept secure in a functioning offsite backup which meets compliance needs.
