The challenge
The Nextbase website plays a crucial role in the company’s sales and marketing strategy. It offers a range of content and services, including a comprehensive product catalogue for both consumer and commercial customers, a dedicated support section, and direct links to major Dash Cam retailers, including Halfords, Maplin, Currys and Tesco.
Nextbase.co.uk also features a video hub where Dash Cam users can upload their own footage. Given the large file sizes, Nextbase required a hosting solution which could efficiently support its expanding user-submitted content library. Additionally, site traffic was growing and often spiked unpredictability when specific videos gained attention online, so the company needed a robust solution to handle these fluctuations.
To solidify its reputation as the UK’s leading manufacturer of Dash Cams, Nextbase began looking for a managed hosting partner capable of meeting these requirements. Key criteria included a highly reliable hosting infrastructure, seamless scalability, and a strong, responsive support team.
The solution
To manage the submission, storage, and hosting of the large video files, we developed a solution ensuring that Nextbase.co.uk always has sufficient storage capacity and remains fully operational, even during peak traffic periods. The availability of a UK-based support team, who are available 24/7/365, was an important factor in Nextbase’s choice of Hyve as their hosting partner.
As part of the implementation, we cached the entire Nextbase website, enabling it to accommodate sudden influxes of visitors while maintaining optimal performance. This was essential to ensuring uninterrupted access to Nextbase’s video content at all times.
Our approach simplifies deployment, migration, and platform evolution through a continuous process: Consult, Design, Migrate and Manage. During the consulting phase, our team worked closely with Nextbase to ensure a deep understanding of their requirements, allowing for the design of an optimal, cost-effective solution within budget and timeline constraints.
Project deployment followed a structured approach, covering key technical milestones such as server build, migration, content delivery, platform configuration, fine-tuning, and launch. Post-deployment, we provide Nextbase with 24/7/365 monitoring and proactive support, including ongoing performance optimisation, allowing them to scale their services seamlessly according to their requirements.
Nextbase attributed much of the project’s success to our ability to understand their specific priorities and technical objectives.
