Brighton UK – April 1, 2019 – Hyve Managed Hosting, a leading managed hosting and cloud service provider, today announced its latest green initiative, QuadKinetic. This groundbreaking solution utilises the power of the quad muscles used when pedalling, generating enough sustainable energy to run its UK data centres.
“QuadKinetic is the first initiative of its kind that sees entire data centres being powered by manual pedalling,” says Jon Lucas, co-director of Hyve Managed Hosting. “The introduction of QuadKinetic marks a pivotal moment on the path to greener data centres.”
Hyve staff will generate an electrical current by pedalling exercise bikes which are wired up to power banks in its data centres. This scheme is designed to benefit everyone, including employees, as not only can they expect their health and fitness levels to increase, but also their overall contribution to a greener planet. Powering its UK data centres is no mean feat, so the Hyve employees will work on a rotation basis.
In the future, Hyve is aiming to develop this strategy even further, with earn as you ride schemes for keen cyclists in the Brighton and Hove area.
