Hyve’s strategic data centre partner, Equinix, has announced that they will be expanding their data centre services to offer a further 12 locations this year. As part of their global expansion, Equinix will also develop 23 of their existing sites, providing carrier-neutral data centre space across 5 continents.
The estimated $1.7-1.9 billion investment will see data centre facilities open in Seoul, which will be its first location in South Korea. Additional data centres will also open in existing sites such as Melbourne, Tokyo and Singapore.
The expansion will provide interconnection globally between clouds, networks and services. Equinix customers will also be able to establish network connections between the Americas, Europe, Asia-Pacific and Brazil.
The company currently operates 202 data centres in 24 countries, with more than 341,000 total interconnections and 22.2 million gross feet of data centre space. 28% of Equinix’s sales are generated by sales to cloud and IT service providers, making it their largest sales sector.
Hyve is looking forward to extending data centre offerings to customers, which will be suited to growing businesses that need a presence in multiple locations. We currently provide private cloud, enterprise cloud, and colocation in 35 data centre locations and will be able to offer the 12 new locations by the end of 2019.
