EA Server Fury

A lot of angry players…

Players were angry (very angry) yesterday after there were server issues with EA Games. All of EA’s major online games had reported problems (FIFA 18, Battlefield 1, Star Wars Battlefront II etc) across the UK, Europe and the US.

Players were met with error messages when they tried to log in and play a game online. Frustrating. Some players could connect to Battlefield 1 in the UK, but the servers were empty and the game failed to connect to an online session.

The issues were apparently due to ‘fiber outages’ that were affecting connectivity to their online games. That sounds ominous. Players using all gaming platforms were experiencing problems too – Xbox, Playstation etc

EA were quick off the mark by alerting users of the issues via their Twitter account, but so were all the disgruntled people that couldn’t connect to their favourite game. Hopefully EA get some server redundancy sorted to save the FIFA mafia getting on their backs again.

It’s definitely been a bad few weeks for gamers. Last week Xbox Live had similar issues, with players in the US and Western Europe unable to sign in to Xbox Live.
