Remember the PDP-11?

The PDP-11 might look like something out of a technology museum, but a lot of established developers learnt to program on this piece of kit in the 80s and 90s.

So, for a little nostalgia trip, we thought that we’d share this simulator of the 1st edition of Unix.

You can run it using Docker, which lets you run packaged services on your PC without having to download them onto the OS. It’s great for messing around with old systems without needing the hardware.

Access Unix in 1972 mode, and see which commands we still use today. You’ll probably miss some of them – Bash hadn’t been invented yet!

Download Docker and run Unix.
