Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks are weapons of mass disruption. Unlike access attacks that penetrate security perimeters to steal information, DDoS attacks paralyse Internet systems by swamping servers, network links and network devices (routers, firewalls, etc.) with bogus traffic.
